On the subject of Turkish vocabulary, I found the list of Basic English words I had intended to learn back in August. My proficiency was still around 50% or less, but I got a few more translations and memorized one or two. Seems technique is of little importance compared to actually putting in some effort regularly.

A lot of guesswork, but I reckon I got at least 18-20 right:

1 - 5: i, h, n, m, k
6 - 10: x, u, s, o, e
11 - 15: t, v, r, a, g
16 - 20: w, f, y, c, p
21 - 25: d, q, l, b, j

Uhh ... good work. I've no idea how you did. Here are my guesses, now let me go find a competent translator.

6-10: x, u, s, o, e
11-15: t, v, w, a, g
16-20: y, r, f, c, p
21-25: d, q, l, b, j

You've waited long enough. The correct answers are
1 - 5: i h n f k
6 - 10: x u s o e
11 - 15: t v m a g
16 - 20: w r y c p
21 - 25: d q l b j

Here are the ones that were missed:

4. "fantaziye" = "display" (RWH and Steve: "intoxicating")
13. "müskir" = "intoxicating" (RWH: "record player"; Steve: "sinister")
16. "perili" (cf. "peril") = "sinister" (Steve: "veiled")
17. "pikap" (cf. "pick-up") = "record player" (RWH: "veiled")
18. "purdeli" = "veiled" (Steve: "display")
