I occasionally have conversations with myself (or my imaginary friends, whichever you prefer) and recently the topic of distinguishing fundamentalists from evangelicals came up. I answered myself thusly: "Fundamentalists wear long skirts and no make-up and tend to be socially conservation (i.e., unable to mind their own business), whereas evangelicals will wear shorter skirts and may be a bit socially progressive. Despite these superficial differences, however, they both think it is just and right that I should be tortured for my beliefs (or lack thereof). The fact that all but the most rabid of fundamentalists are willing to forestall this torture session until after my death does little to comfort me."
