Why are gods special? Other non-existent entities don't warrant this kind of hand-wringing.
Do you believe in Santa Claus? No. Are unicorns real? No. Does god exist? That's not a normal scientific question. It's impossible to know for sure because you cannot deductively prove a negative proposition. It's proud and intellectualy irresponsible to suggest that nowhere in this vast universe is it possible for their to exist an inkling of evidence that suggests god might exist.
