Rabbit Trim
From here:
For the US market:
"Rabbit" - base model. These are only available very early so are pretty rare.
"Rabbit C" = Rabbit Custom. This is just one step up from the base model (Which are just called "Rabbit")
"Rabbit L" = Rabbit Lux (translates to "Deluxe".) One step up from Rabbit C.
"Rabbit LS" = Rabbit Luxury Special. One step up from Rabbit L.
"Rabbit GL" = Rabbit Grand Lux. Another step up in terms of features and options from Rabbit LS. I think only sold in '83-'84.
"Rabbit S" = Rabbit Special. Weird model with red trim, I think '82-only, that was pre-GTI. It went away when GTI was introduced in '83.
"Rabbit GTI" = Rabbit Grand Turismo Injection. Explanation not needed.
Most commonly, Rabbits are fuel injected gasoline motors - their badges say "Fuel Injected" on them (except GTI, where the I stands for "injection" it would be redundant.) There were also Rabbit Diesel and Turbo-Diesel ('83-'84 only) enging options which are each also noted on the badge. If the badge doesn't say anything regarding the engine option (IE: Fuel injection/GTI/Diesel,Turbo Diesel) then the engine is just carburated.
This implies that in the A3 line the "base model" is equivalent to a "Grand Lux" Rabbit. Speculating here, but it seems GLS would be "Grand Lux Special" and GLX, "Grand Lux eXtreme".

Scrolling with the Win API
It apparently breaks down like this. Different controls will actually scroll
for you in response to different commands sent via SendMessage().
- Textbox - SendMessage EM_LINESCROLL; wParam = 0 and lParam = number of lines to scroll
- Listbox, FileListbox, Treeview, Listview - SendMessage WM_VSCROLL; wParam = SB_BOTTOM (7), SB_LINEDOWN (1), SB_LINEUP (0) and lParam = 0

The Grease
Well, I've found a source for waste vegetable oil. Or at least, a source that doesn't mind me dumpster diving behind their shop to grab their used oil. I didn't have enough tubing at the time to draw any oil, but the remnants that I saw in one of the buckets looked clear and amber, which is apparently the way it's supposed to look.
In the next week or so I plan to grab 5 gallons of oil and begin the process of letting it settle and then prefiltering it. My plan through the winter is to run an 80/20 blend of #2 diesel/WVO. That's a fairly conservative blend, but I am not making any modifications at this time to ensure proper heating of the fuel or the fuel lines. I will be plugging in the engine block heater every morning regardless of temperature to ensure I'm not injecting VO into a cold engine (which contributes to coking).
