LCD + keypad
The USB Crystalfontz 633
looks like it would be a good interface/controller. The LCD display is a little small and it is a bit pricey at $55. Still it's the best thing I've come across yet.

Geekalicious
Looking at these sites has gotten me thinking:
mp3Mobile
MpegBox 2
mp3Mobile
MpegBox 2
Of course, those two blokes took the most respected path to geekiness by building their systems from scratch. However, i'm thinking that all that would really be needed is a fairly inexpensive laptop with at least a Pentium 233 MHz processor and a 4GB HDD, a cigarette lighter adapter to run the laptop off 12VDC power and one of those Sony headphone-tape cassette adapters to play audio through the car audio system.
Running Windows 9x you could then alter the SHELL= command to point to a user interface written in VB that automates WinAmp. The hardest part would be finding an input device so that you could skip tracks.
However, a rudimentary working system could be up and running with no interface whatsoever.

I should be working
This is wrong. I cannot articulate why, but it just is.

Googling on the contents of the SDO file got me my answer.
SDO apparently means Set Database Options and is the file created
when VBA code in an MDB or ADP calls Application.SetOption to
configure settings found under Tools|Options in MS Access.

Disappointing...
It seems that puTTY dumps crap in the root folder.
Volume in drive C is Local Disk
Volume Serial Number is 5C04-438C
Directory of C:
2004-05-26 11:25 600 PUTTY.RND
1 File(s) 600 bytes
0 Dir(s) 27,420,908,544 bytes free
Also, does anyone know what a .SDO file is?

Googling SDO
No dice in trying to figure out what this SDO file with the
same filename as an MDB I have under Source Code Control is.
Google let me down:
Your search - "Windows XP" "SDO file" "Microsoft Access" - did not match any documents.

Useless Trivia (redundant)
What do you know, the abbreviation, UTF has an abbreviation
(UCS) embedded in it. So UTF is "UCS transformation format".

The People's Vehicle
"...established some state owned concerns such as Volkswagen to
produce a cheap automobile for public use."
How far has VW strayed from that original (admittedly fascist) goal when a
fully loaded Touareg TDI costs almost twice what Cadillac's god-awful ugly
piece of shit SUV costs at $68,000.

The Google Plex
I've decided that the only possible use for this blog is as an archive for all the poor phrases that don't show up in a Google search. Here's the first entry in what is sure to be an vituperative display of the uninteresting:
"Catholic ass sex"
My apologies for using vituperative above. I've just been wanting to use that word all day long...I know it's nonsense.

Holy Shit
Listening to the Howard Stern freak show from Vegas yesterday
while a family from the God Hates Fags organization competed
in the karaoke contest.
Small children (like 6 or 7) were singing "I'm shamed to be an
American where the fags can freely roam". Any parent who does
that to a child deserves a shotgun blast to the base of the skull.
My only solace is that with fundamentalism it is impossible to
tell the parody from the real thing. So it might just be an act.
