Sosumis

The term came from Weingarten, it refers to something that everyone but you seems to like. Here's my list:

soup
professional sports
fruity desserts
Kurt Vonnegut
eggplant

I used to count tomatoes and Bob Dylan, but I found that I only hate soggy old tomatoes, and a couple of Dylan tracks came up in the wget rotation and converted me. I've also outgrown immature aversions to coffee and cola.

Vonnegut might get another chance one day but I've hated two of his books already, and remain completely nonplussed as to what people see in him.

I'm with you on the eggplant. For the rest, I'm going to have to sue you.

I thought you were a Vonnegut fan.

If you can see the tomato light, you can certainly see the eggplant light. Call me and I'll make some for you. Bring Eric along while you're at it, and I'll invite a couple of people myself. We'll have a mass eggplant indoctrination fest.

Bob Dylan, on the other hand -- well, you're way ahead of me there.

I'll take my day in court over Vonnegut. I cringed every time I saw one of his crappy line drawings in a book.

The rest I can chalk up to variation in taste. Except soup, which people love about as universally as puppies and fireplaces, making me some kind of alien.

I still can't listen to a lot of Bob Dylan, but those two songs made me realize that he can make great music.

Yeah, the soup thing does make you an alien. Soup is great stuff. In fact, I'm about to go get some for lunch. We've been over that before, though.

As for tomatoes, I still don't like them naked, but salsa and bruschetta have taught me to like them when properly seasoned.
